IN DIFFERENCE
Jef and Marica clash over their differences, their different ways of thinking and seeing the world. It seems impossible for this unlikely pair to find common ground. Too different to align, too close to ignore each other. What does it mean to be two without confusing each other? Can we coexist without compromise and without hierarchy? “In Difference” does not offer an answer, but seeks it in performance.

MARICA MARINONI
Marica was born in Milan in 1995. As a child, she practised competitive trampolining for seven years while also studying drawing, illustration and art history. After graduating, she enrolled at FLIC, choosing the roue cyr as her speciality. After two years of preparatory training, she joined the 31st class of CNAC and graduated in 2019. After completing a tour with CNAC directed by the Galapiat collective, she worked as a performer for the Scom company in the show trait(s) (artistic director Coline Garcia) and the Les filles du renard Pâle company for the new creation Révolte! (artistic director Johanne Humblet) in 2023. She co-authored, with Juan Ignacio Tula, her solo show on the Cyr wheel, Lontano, which premiered in 2022. In 2023, she began co-creating In Difference with Jef Everaert. In 2024, Marica will participate in the Cirque de Demain world festival, where she will win the grand prize and the President of the Republic’s prize.
JEF EVERAERT
Jef Everaert was born in Belgium in 1999. As a child, he attended the Circolito school in Malines, where he discovered juggling. Later, at the Circus Arts High School in Leuven, he discovered the roue cyr, a piece of equipment that quickly became an obsession. Eager to broaden his horizons, he enrolled at the FLIC Circus School before joining the 34th class of the Centre National des Arts du Cirque in Châlons-en-Champagne. There, he developed a unique style with the roue Cyr, fuelled by his experience in juggling and his desire to explore it from a personal perspective. After his Échappée project in 2022, he completed his training at the CNAC in 2023 with the show Balestra, directed by Marie Molliens (Cie Rasposo). Since then, he has co-created “In Difference” with Marica Marinoni and participated in Biel Rosselló’s (Cie Solfasirc) project La Quadrature du Cercle, a research project on new equipment inspired by the roue Cyr.
